Daniel Bryan opened NXT; backstage Bryan said he has climbed the ladder since leaving NXT. He was world champion, and now the tag team champions. Kane walked in, exclaiming he was the tag team champions. The two went back and forth with the yes’ and no’s until Daniel stormed off. These two play off each other so well, I hope their team never breaks up.
Trent Barreta’s music hit and Trent flew down the aisle. Barreta was heavily taped from his sneak attack injury he suffered last week. Leo Kruger, along with Kassius Ohno, are the prime suspects for Trent’s attack. Kruger made his way down and licked his chops, literally at the weakened Barreta. Kruger quickly attacked the weakened rib area of Barreta. Leo, holding Trent in the corner, punched and used his knees at Barreta forcing him to the ground. Kruger attempted to remove the tape, which is the only thing protecting Barreta’s injury. Trent pushed Kruger off, knocking him back but Leo stormed back at Trent but Barreta caught him with a last second drop kick. Barreta attempted to gain any kind of momentum but Kruger again slammed Barreta to the mat and picking up the victory.
Xavier Woods danced his way down the aisle to his opponent, Memo Montenegro already waiting in the ring. Woods dancing and yelling to get the crowd pumped as the bell rang. Woods using the side headlock to try to knock Memo down to the mat, but Montenegro was too strong and pushed Woods away. Xavier again applied the headlock and flipped Memo down. Woo’s uttered from Xavier, who reminds me of a light weight Brodus Clay. Memo, clearly phased from the headlock didn’t see Xavier running at and hitting him with a huge close line to pick up the victory.
Audrey Marie’s music hit along with her seductive behavior. Emma, already waiting in the ring was her opponent tonight. Marie, known for her submission tactics, took Emma down to the mat and applied several different leg scissors. Emma, who was just signed by WWE said Jim Ross, managed to escape the hold and went for a small package, but only for a two count. Marie, with a surprised look on her face was wrapped up again but Marie rolled out and knocked down to the mat for the 1,2,3.
Backstage there was supposed to be an interview with Roman Reigns, but Reigns left a press release stating he had more important meetings and would do the interview in the future. Michael Cole set out to the ring to conduct an interview between NXT Champion Seth Rollins and Jinder Mahal. Jinder told Rollins that the attack last week was a message, that Rollins was a born loser like everyone in attendance and the NXT Title was his destiny. Rollins grabbed the microphone and said that he was just like everyone here, and that he was better than Mahal, he also said Mahal will never be champion because he doesn’t have the heart. Mahal pushed Rollins and the crowd began to chant ‘let them fight’ as Michael Cole stepped in the middle. Cole asked Jinder another question but instead of answering he attacked Rollins and put him in the camel clutch until several referees made the save for Rollins.
The main event this week on NXT was for the Tag Team Titles. Michael McGillicutty and Johnny Curtis (Why not do the Fandango character) against the champions, Daniel Bryan and Kane. The Crowd broke out into a ‘Yes’ chant much to the dismay of Daniel Bryan as the bell rang. McGillicutty opened the match with Daniel Bryan; McGillicutty started to take the advantage and slammed Bryan down as he tagged in his partner Johnny Curtis. Curtis pushed Daniel back toward Kane, where Kane tagged himself in and took full advantage that Curtis didn’t see. Kane close lined Curtis down to the mat, and Curtis scooted over toward McGillicutty tagging him in. McGillicutty ran toward Kane but was meant with a big boot. Kane knocked Michael over the top rope but Bryan tagged himself back into the match. Bryan ran near the rope but Curtis hit him from the outside knocking Bryan down. McGillicutty and Curtis tagged each other back and forth working on Daniel Bryan. Both men job a good job keeping Daniel Bryan down and in their corner, Curtis went for a cover but Bryan kicked out at two. Curtis then went for a side head lock until Bryan escaped; both men hit the ropes but collided mid-air. Curtis tagged McGillicutty back in and finally Bryan tagged Kane back into the match. Kane hit McGillicutty back into the corner accidentally tagging Curtis back in. Kane on the top rope hit the old school close line knocking Curtis down. Bryan tagged himself back in as Curtis made it to McGillicutty, Bryan side-stepped McGillicutty and applied the Yes lock forcing McGillicutty to tap out. Daniel Bryan, upset, yelling no in Kane’s face and at the crowd. The crowd began to chant, ‘Hug it out’. Bryan and Kane looking at each other met in the middle of the ring and hugged as NXT ended.
