What do Batman, the police (not Sting’s band) and The Shield all have in common? They all fight the injustices of their worlds. They defend what is right in their honor while all downing black outfits. The only difference between Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns are viewed as the villains instead. They have taken out a majority of the fan favorites, Ryback, Sheamus, Randy Orton, Team Hell No, John Cena and The Rock; all the while helping CM Punk retain his title on a few separate occasions. These three men may be booed by marks and children alike The Shield is a breath of fresh air and while I applaud what the WWE has done with their first few months on the scene the WWE needs to strike while the iron is hot and not let the flame sizzle out. (That last sentence would have been made fun of by my old boss at the newspaper I worked at but god do I love clichés.)
Since their sighting through their first match at TLC The Shield has a buzz growing, where are they coming from and why? Now that they have music, despite it being perfect for their aura, have lost only their mystique of when will they strike, but it doesn’t take away what they have started. It’s now up to the WWE to make stars out of these three men. The Road to WrestleMania is here once again and now is the perfect time to build three stars because we all know Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan and others will be forced into some dumb six man tag match or something along those lines. I have thought of three singles matches that can evaluate the status and solidify all three men as major players in the WWE.
Dean Ambrose, in my opinion is just a tab bit better than Seth Rollins but both can and should be either WWE Champion or World Heavyweight Champion in no time. I like the idea of Ambrose costing Bo Dallas his chance at the Intercontinental Title. Wade Barrett tells Ambrose he doesn’t need his help, then Ambrose begins stalking Barrett eventually forcing Wade’s hand and giving him a title match at WrestleMania. I know Barrett isn’t a huge star but he is well-known among the wrestling community and a win for Ambrose and giving him the Intercontinental Title raises his stalk and sets up a feud that could last a while.
Roman Reigns, if we had to pick a weakest link in The Shield’s chain I would have to choose him. I view him more as a body-guard type guy. I haven’t seen enough of him to see the real charisma that Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose posses. A great opponent for Reigns at WrestleMania would be Kane. Kane is the perfect guy to put Reigns over. Kane is a veteran and has had a few WrestleMania moments of his own. The WWE needs to harbor on Roman’s best quality, his look. He has the look of a guy that could lift Yokozuna and slam, him without breaking a sweat. If Team Hell No does end up breaking up Kane could turn heel and seek out a victim, chose Reigns and watch the destruction pile up.
Seth Rollins was the first NXT Champion and number one face on NXT for quite some time, so it is almost easy to say that a lot of people him up on Rollins. What better way to build up Rollins and have him beat The Legend Killer Randy Orton? Orton is stuck in between a rock and a creative has nothing for you place right now. He isn’t in the picture for any title in the WWE and hasn’t really feuded with anyone in forever it seems. While he isn’t a top guy like he was a few years ago, Orton is still a major player and a fan favorite, heel or face. A win for Rollins over Orton not only does wonders for Seth but it puts him in a good spot for the World Heavyweight Title picture and a possible feud with Dolph Ziggler if he ever cashes in; and who wouldn’t want to see those two in the ring?
